Would I Need A Lawyer To Keep A Drunk Driver Who Nearly Killed My Sister In Jail With A Max Jail Sentence?
This guy was driving drunk..my sister had stopped at the light and he came crashing into the back of her car going 60mph while she was stopped.. It COMPLETELY turned her car over..sending it more than 200 feet slamming into a telephone pole…car was devastatingly totaled..i dont know how in the world she survived with only bumps and bruises…The pictures of her totaled car were HORRIFYING
Anyway I found the drunk driver got out on a $500 bond!!! He nearly murdered her. And from what I am hearing he most likely won’t even serve jail time. I look at this as an ATTEMPTED MURDER. What can I do to make sure he serves at least a minimum jail time of a year or two. Do I need a lawyer?

Contact the district attorneys office and ask to meet with them to discuss this case. Most of the time they are unaware of the impact that the accident had on the individuals involved.
Your sister and you can give them the details of the accident and your reasons for wanting more jail time without leniency of the court.
Yes – your sister should sue in civil court for lost wages/medical costs/damages. Unfortunately, only the DA can recommend charges, or seek jailtime.
Psych Nestor: If you think the US system is bad, look at the UK. A large truck driver plowed into the back of an SUV and killed a family of 6. Convicted of careless driving causing death, he was given 3 years jail, which is one of the stiffest that can be given for the offence.
It isn’t attemptive murder because it was not premeditated.
It isn’t man slaughter because she didn’t get killed.
You cannot put him in jail, all you could do is sue him for the damages to the car, and your sister.
This legal system is so f* up, and yet people are so arrogant to say “it’s the best in the world”….ha.
I hope this guy gets what he deserves.
You cannot hire a lawyer to get him jailtime. Jailtime would be sought by a government prosecutor. You could, however, hire a lawyer to sue him in a civil suit – medical bills, emotional trauma, etc.
You don’t necessarily need one, but the odds will be MUCH more favorable if you have one.

The best thing I got I baught myself and used it constantly was a glider chair with the glider ottoman. So useful, you can find them somewhat inexpensively at Walmart or Kmart or even Target sometimes. I say save your money on all the little stuff and get the glider. They will use it. Another great item is a vibrating bouncy seat for the baby. Used this 24/7.

I use Cetaphil. It is fragrance free and non-comedogenic…meaning it won't clog your pores. I like it because it's not like the cheap brands and it doesn't have all that extra junk in it that can clog your pores (i.e. fragrances, etc.) When I use it in the morning I put on a small amount before my cover-up and then it looks fine. It is designed for dry/oily skin. I would also recommend steaming your face by boiling water, putting it in a large bowl, and placing your face over the bowl with a towel over your head to block the steam from escaping. Good luck!
