Betty Hutton – Doctor, Lawyer, Indian Chief

Most musical fans point to Julie Andrews or Judy Garland as their favorite actresses. But I’m all about the underseen, underappreciated genius of Betty Hutton. This clip of her eye-popping (and eye-stretching) performance in a B-musical comedy serves as a light introduction to her style. Hutton’s most notable film role was the part of Annie Oakley in the 1950 musical of “Annie Get Your Gun.” One of her best known songs (Blow a Fuse, later renamed It’s Oh So Quiet) was covered by Icelandic artist, Bjork ( Björk ).

A #1 record for Capitol, among many she did. And I was there when it all happened, having been born in 1940. I remember when this issue came out and “His Rocking Horse Ran Away.”
Bob Hope may have said it best when he referred to her as vitamin pill with legs. Hutton’s enthusiasm and talent are second to none; indeed, if it could be harnessed, the energy crises would be ended.
The popular music of this era (roughly 1925-1950) includes some of the greatest ever written. Those who enjoy it will find the radio program “The Swingin’ Years,” with Chuck Cecil very rewarding.
On the air since 1956, with a huge collection of music and interviews Cecil made over the years, the program airs Sat & Sun, 0600-0900 Pacific Time (US) at kkjz-dot-org (KJazz).
Far more than mere entertainment, the program is also a history lesson of those who made this music – and their times.

Betty Hutton is the the greatest there is! she was one of the most talented people ever. and a beautiful person she deserved every bit of fame she got and alot more.

Not to be repetitive, but I’m 16 and completely agree with both you and starleades. My favorite movies and music are classic masterpieces. People fall for all kinds of trash now, but luckily some of us know how to appreciate the good stuff. And we should be grateful to be able to. ^_^

If you everything read or see what is shown about Betty Hutton you will detect that she was a Great singer and actress and I guess a wonderful person too but way ahead of her time. But they left many things to all the people who like it and will make them a lot of joy.
